"Jael Thompson has never really fit in. She’s changed schools too many times to count. The only family she’s ever known is her father, a bitter ex-priest who never lets her date and insists she attend the strictest Catholic school in Seattle. And her mother—well, she was a five thousand year old demon. That doesn’t exactly help." - Goodreads When I started reading this book, I first noticed that it was in 3rd person, present tense. I have to say that was a negative for me. Fortunately though, that was the ONLY thing I didn’t like about this book. I felt like the story line was very original and creative. I thought it was amazing how the author was able to tie history into his book about demons. I loved Jael’s name, even thought it sounds like “jail”, and her character was very strong. I know that if I had been in her position, I probably would have checked myself into a mental facility. But Jael took it with a bit of ease. She freaked out a little, but then she knew exactly what she had to do. I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to read more by Jon Skovron. |
