I first heard about this book when I was contacted by a publicist for Aaron Patterson. I looked up the book, and when I saw the cover, I immediately responded to the email. I was excited when the book finally came in the mail. The first thing I did… Okay, the second (Oooing and Awwing over the cover was first) was jump to a random page and look at the writing style. I have received a couple of books that I refused to review due to the unprofessional-ism of the writing, but this book went into the READ pile. Although school and work kept me from getting to this book, I finally found the time. It took a couple chapters for me to get into the book, but once I did, I became upset with having to attend classes and not being able to take the time to finish Airel. But I did! So in otherwords, I greatly enjoyed this book! I have to compliment the author. It takes guts for a man to not only take the POV of a woman, but to take the role of a teenage girl. As I was reading the book, I was realizing that if I were Airel, I would be having the same thoughts. As for the character herself, she was very well thought out. I wish there had been a little bit more romance between her and Michael, but overall it was good. There were many scenes that I didn’t see coming, and that doesn’t happen very often to me. I only have one complaint, and that is that there was an overuse of hyphens. There were many parts that could have been separate sentences or had commas used instead. But other than that, I loved this book. |
